Grant Macdonald London | Lewa Safari Marathon 2021

“To me, a running world is a happy world. Please join me in a global running movement to support the guardians of wildlife and our natural heritage as they continue to feel the negative effects of the pandemic. On the 26th June, wherever you are in the world, run The Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon.’

— Eliud Kipchoge EGH, Marathon World Record Holder and Lewa Ambassador

The Lewa Safari Marathon is considered one of the world’s top ten marathons. Organised in partnership with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, this event has raised millions of dollars to fund Tusk’s wildlife conservation since its inception in 2000. This year, on the 26th June, the marathon is going virtual.

For the second year running, the Lewa Safari Marathon is giving people around the world the opportunity to take on the challenge. Choosing a distance from 5km to 42km, thousands will take part in the main event, either walking or running the full distance in a day, or accumulating the miles over days or weeks, running a mile or two a day around the garden, local park, or on the treadmill.

You can register to take part here.

If you’re looking for another way to support the incredible work that Tusk do, the craftsmen at Grant Macdonald are building a collection of sterling silver animals with hand finished details designed to bring these masterpieces to life. 20% from the sale of each piece will be donated to Tusk to support their vitally important conservation efforts.

Our latest addition to the Tusk collection is Punu Rii, a vision in gold plated silver named for the city in Uganda where one of the last Rothschild’s giraffe habitats exists. With all giraffes currently classified as endangered, the Rothschild’s is the most endangered of them all, with fewer than 2,500 walking the earth.

Tusk is helping to reintroduce these beautiful animals to their former range in Kenya, restoring the habitat in Murchison Falls National Park.

Beautifully distinguished by fuzzy edged dark patches, the uniqueness of the Rothschild’s Giraffe deserved to be celebrated, and our craftsman have applied a high polish to the base colour before applying texture by hand to draw together light and shadow on these elegant creations.

Whether you’re lacing up your running shoes or getting acquainted with your new sterling silver animal from our Tusk collection, you can be proud to support the work of a dynamic and pioneering organisation with over twenty five years of initiating and funding conservation, community development and environmental education programmes across Africa.
