We’re delighted to present ‘Study of a Rhino and Calf’, a limited edition sterling silver sculpture created in partnership with acclaimed British sculptor Rosamund Lloyd.
Unveiled at the Tusk Conservation Awards last week and currently on display in the reception at The Savoy in London, the sculpture stands as a tribute to British artistry. The Tusk Conservation Awards celebrate remarkable individuals who dedicate their lives to protecting Africa’s wildlife. With the Rhino and Calf displayed in the hotel’s reception, guests were welcomed by a powerful symbol of what these efforts aim to preserve. Our master craftsmen created the piece to pay tribute not only to the beauty of wildlife but also to the communities and conservationists working tirelessly to safeguard it.
Cast in sterling silver and mounted on American walnut, each sculpture is hand engraved and meticulously finished in our London workshop. The form is informed by Rosamund Lloyd’s sculptural language, capturing movement, tension, and tenderness with exceptional fidelity. Our silversmiths then translate that form into metal using techniques refined over five decades, blending traditional hand skills with select modern processes. The result is a work that reflects both artists at their highest level.

Only ten editions will ever be made. As with all pieces from the Grant Macdonald atelier, the sculpture is hallmarked by the London Assay Office which has been testing the purity of precious metals since 1327. These markings reaffirm the authenticity and craftsmanship that define every object produced in our workshop. Each piece also bears the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Commemorative hallmark, adding a historic touchstone to this modern collaboration.
This collaboration also carries a purpose beyond its artistry. Thirty percent of the proceeds from each sale will be donated directly to Tusk to support vital rhino conservation programmes across Africa. As Charles Mayhew OBE, Founder and President of Tusk, notes, the rhino remains critically endangered in many regions.
“Having benefited from the generous support of Rosamond Lloyd and Grant Macdonald for a number of years we are absolutely thrilled that they have come together on this collaboration to create this magnificent silver rhino to be sold in support of Tusk’s rhino conservation programme. The rhino remains critically endangered in many parts of Africa and Tusk has been at the forefront of protecting the species for over three decades. We are enormously grateful to Rosamond Lloyd and Grant Macdonald for supporting Tusk in this way. “
Tusk has been working for more than three decades to protect the species while supporting the communities that live alongside them. The funds raised through this collaboration will contribute to anti-poaching initiatives, habitat protection, and the long-term preservation of these extraordinary animals.
At its heart, Study of a Rhino and Calf represents an intersection of values: British craftsmanship, artistic expression, and meaningful conservation. It is a celebration of what can be achieved when creativity and purpose align. To learn more about the piece, or to enquire about availability within the edition, please visit: this link.
