Last Sunday, the 2022 Golden Vines Awards drew to a close for another year, ending their Fine Wine, Rare Spirit and Experience Global Online Charity Auction, which was open from the 1st of October, available for all fine wine lovers globally.

Aiming to raise over £1.2 million for the Gérard Basset Foundation in order to fund a range of global diversity related projects covering wine, spirits and hospitality, including the Taylor’s Port Golden Vines Diversity Scholarship, Internship and Mentorship Programmes, the Dom Pérignon Golden Vines Master of Wine & Master Sommelier Scholarships ,the Hennessy Golden Vines Diversity Scholarship in Spirits, and other Golden Vines diversity & inclusion-focused scholarship programmes.

The Golden Vines are an awards evening that has a special place in the Grant Macdonald London workshop, because we played a big part in creating The Golden Vines Award Trophy, developed in collaboration with the world’s largest supplier of wine stoppers, Amorim Cork; and the artist who illustrated the cork, Red Longo. Grant Macdonald produced and sponsored the silverwork:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Grant Macdonald to work alongside the artwork of Red Longo and the craftsmanship of Amorim Cork. With the charity in mind, we felt like this was a great fit for us and an opportunity to show the world of fine wine just what we are capable of.”

The Golden Vines Awards were awarded to the world’s best fine wine producers, at the Salone di Cinquecento at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence as voted by the leading members of the global fine wine industry - 442 fine wine professionals spanning 55 countries cast their votes, including 57 Masters of Wine, 31 Master Sommeliers, 197 sommeliers, 133 fine wine merchants, 93 fine wine distributors, 80 members of the fine wine press, 57 fine wine brokers and 15 auction house professionals.
