Lewa Safari Marathon 2023

“To me, a running world is a happy world. Please join me in a global running movement to support the guardians of wildlife and our natural heritage as they continue to feel the negative effects of the pandemic.’  — Eliud Kipchoge EGH, Marathon World Record Holder and Lewa Ambassador

The Lewa Safari Marathon is one of the most unique and breathtaking marathons in the world. Set in the stunning landscape of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, this annual event has been attracting runners from all over the world since its inception in 2000. The 2023 edition of the marathon promises to be even bigger and better, with a range of events to suit runners of all levels.

On June 24th, runners will take on a variety of race distances, including a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 10K race. Each race takes runners through the picturesque savannahs of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, where they can spot a variety of wildlife, sharing the reserve with several large African predators including lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog.

But the Lewa Safari Marathon is more than just a running event. It is also a fundraiser for the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, committed to conserving wildlife and providing sustainable development opportunities for the surrounding communities. All proceeds from the marathon go towards supporting these efforts, making it a truly worthwhile cause to support.

Although you might have missed your opportunity to register for the race, it’s never too late to donate to the efforts - and you’re looking for another way to support the incredible work that Tusk do, the craftsmen at Grant Macdonald London have a solution in the form of our beautiful menagerie of sterling silver animals, each finished with hand finished details that really bring our small masterpieces to life. 20% from the sale of each piece will be donated to Tusk to support their vitally important conservation efforts.

For a limited time, our collection has been expanded to include a range of miniature Tusk animals - little wonders who sit alongside our Luangwa Lion, Chyulu and Gourma elephants, and Kunene Rhino. Even though they’re a fraction of the size of their older siblings, each of these animals are finely chased despite their 4cm length - a testament to the unique techniques our craftsmen bring to the workbench.

Whether you’re lacing up your running shoes or getting acquainted with your new sterling silver animal from our Tusk collection, you can be proud to support the work of a dynamic and pioneering organisation with over twenty five years of initiating and funding conservation, community development and environmental education programmes across Africa.
